Question: Attention Math Geniuses! I need help on a Math Calendar Problem! What is the area of the regular hexagon?

In my math class, we receive a worksheet with a math story problem for every day of the month. For the month of November, I have 29 questions correct, but I am continuously missing this one. Please show any work if you wish, and I can turn in one answer per day, so your guess can’t hurt. The problem is: The intersection of a unit cube and a plane passing through its center is a regular hexagon. What is the area of the regular hexagon?

Answer: hexagon’s side
= √(0.5^2+0.5^2)
= √2 /2

hexagon’s area
= 6 * (√2 /2)^2 * (sin π/3) * 1/2
= 6/4 * √3/2
= 3√3/4
