Math Worksheets Brain Teasers
Question: I need help on math problems for homework!?
I need help with the following questions on my math worksheet.
They are kind of “brain-teaser” questions and I can’t figure them out.
3. A certain product is sold as either powder or a liquid. A survey reveals that 1/3 of the consumers interviewed do not use powder, 2/7 do not use the liquid, 427 use both liquid and powder and 1/5 do not use the product at all. How many consumers were interviewed?
4. Find the one’s digit of 1998^1999 – 1999^1998 (explanation please!)
6. From an 8.5″ by 11″ sheet of paper, x” by x” squares are cut from 2 corners and x” by 5.5″ rectangles from the other 2 corners. The paper is then folded to form a box with a lid. Express the volume of the box in terms of x.
Any explanations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time!
Answer: 1).
Let the number of consumers interviewed be x.
(1/3)x + (2/7)x = (13/21)x do not use either powder or liquid of the product.
(1/5)x do not use the product at all.
Number of people using both liquid and powder are
[1 - (13/21 + 1/5)]x = [1 - (86/105)]x = (19/105)x = 427
x = 427*105/19 = 2360
2).
1998^1999 – 1999^1998
= 1998^(1998 + 1) – (1998 + 1)^1998
= 1998^1998 + 1998^1 – (1998^1998 + 1^1998)
= 1998 – 1 = 1997
The one’s digit of 1998^1999 – 1999^1998 is therefore 7
3).
Given an 8.5″ by 11″ sheet of paper:
x” by x” squares are cut from 2 corners and
x” by 5.5″ rectangles are cut from the other 2 corners.
The paper is then folded to form a box with a lid.
The dimensions of the box so formed is
x’ by x” by 5.5″
The volume of the box = 5.5 x^2 cubic inches.
Algebra Worksheets And Solutions
Question: Can you help me with my ‘Pre-Algebra’ homework?
I had to do 50 problems as a review of all the chapters we did since the beginning of the school year and I have all but 11 done. Can you do them for me? I’ve been trying but I just can’t get them. They are soo tough! And I’m sleepy and can’t sleep until they are done! I have to show all of my work!
(I got the worksheets today!)
1. Simplify 7(3x + 5y) + 5(2x + 7y)
2. Find the LCM of 8xxy and 18xxyyz
3. Express 356 miles in 8 hours as a unit rate.
4. In a scale model of a boat, the tallest mast has a height of 7 inches. If the actual height of the mast is 35 feet, what is the scale of the model.
6. Solve each equation; 7.-4(x+9)= -12x – 4
7. 5n + 6 = 7(n +3) – 3n
8. Solve each inequality:: -4t > -32
9. Find two solutions for the equation 3x + 5y = 10, write the solutions as ordered pairs.
10. Graph y = 2x – 2 by plotting ordered pairs.
11. Solve the system of linear equations y= 4x + 7 and y = -3x by substitution.
THANKS!
Answer: 1. 21x + 35y + 10x +35y
= 31x + 70y
4. 7 : 35 is 1 : 5
6. -4x – 36 = -12x – 4
-4x + 12x = -4 + 36
8x = 32
x = 32/8
= 4
7. 5n + 6 = 7n + 21 – 3n
5n -7n – 3n = 21 – 6
-15n = 15
n = 15/-15
n = -1
and thats all i can help with, sorry :]

Math Worksheets Make Your Own

Question: website for creating a worksheet for elementary math?
is there a website that i can create my own worksheet on shapes for kindergarten students? i have been searching the web all day, and there is not one worksheet that fits with my lesson. I think i would be better off making my own-but can’t seem to find a site for this. I tried lessonplanspage.com but they do not offer Geometry for kindergarten as a subject…thanks for your help in advance!
i appreciate all your input. However, i have already looked at hundreds of websites. i want to CREATE my own (and not have to pay money). i don’t want to have to look up more websites, as they do not have what i am looking for. thanks
Answer: I teach high school algebra and Geometry, and I create all of my own worksheets for class using Microsoft Word. It has a bunch of drawing options, including the ability to draw almost all necessary geometric shapes. Open Word, click on Tools, then Customize, then select Drawing. A row of buttons should appear at the bottom of the screen. There’s a box titled Autoshapes that has just a ton of shapes such as typical Polygons, stars, and block arrows that you can adjust the size of. You can also use line segments to create custom shapes. It takes a little while to get used to, but since you don’t need to create any complex drawings for kindergarten students, it should be user-friendly.
If you need help with using this program, please email me and I’ll talk you through whatever you need!
