Math Worksheets Input Output Tables

Question: How to create an equation from a function table. 8th grade math.?

We are doing review for the NYS test in my 8th grade math class. For our homework, we have a worksheet with function tables (or input output tables). We have to write the equation that the table is expressing. I dont know how. I know that you have to start with: y=__x+__

I don’t have a clue on how to go about filling in the blanks.

Answer: first, find the difference of the y s when x= 1 and x= 2
12- 8= 4
find the y intercept… which is when x=0 so take 8-4 to find it
when x=0 the y value is the y=__x+ (this)
then take a point…(1,8) and substitute the x and y to solve for the last blank
8=__(1)+4 so __=4
so y=4x+4
