Math Worksheets Distributive Property

Question: Factoring math problems?

I was gone when we where taught how to factor, so could someone explain to me how.

i have like 4 worksheets due tomorrow and no clue how t do them, so ill give you the titles of the w/e and some ex from each.

FACTOR COMPLETELY.
1. 10x+35
14. 36a^3-24a^4+60a

FACTOR USING DISTRIBUTIVE PROPERTY.
complete/fill in the blanks
1. 8m-6=2(4m-___)
4. 5a^2b-a0a^2b^=____(1-2b)

FACTOR EACH POLYNOMIAL.
1.5a^2-15
10. 75b^2c^3=60bc^6

FACTOR.
1. 10a-18b
30.x^3y^2z^5-5x^2y^2z^2+12x^5y^2z^2
34. 22a^2b-44a^2b^3+66ab^4

please don’t just give the answer, explain =]
thanks soooo much
you don’t know how much i appreciate it.
i’m pretty sure they are written out right :/

Answer: FACTOR COMPLETELY
The first thing you have to do when you factor, is take out the GCF(Greatest Common Factor), if there is one. For these two problems, that’s all you can do.
1. 10x+35
What is the largest number that can go into both 10x and 35?
5, right?
5(2x+7)
If you dristibuted this back out, you would see it comes out to the same thing. It’s just a simpler way to write it.
14. 36a^3-24a^4+60a
Take out the GCF, which is 6a.
6a(6a^2-4a^3+10)
Rearrange the term inside the parenthesis so that the exponents go from greatest to least.
6a(-4a^3+6a^2+10)

FACTOR USING DISTRIBUTIVE PROPERTY
1.This is basically the same thing. They’re taking out 2 as the GCF.
8m-6=2(4m-3)
4. Are you sure you wrote down this problem right?

FACTOR EACH POLYNOMIAL
1. Still just taking out the GCF.
5(a^2-3)
10. Subtract 60bc^6 from both sides to make the equation equal 0.
75b^2c^2-60bc^6=0
Take out the GCF, 15bc^3.
15bc^3(5b-4c^3)

FACTOR
1. Take out the GCF, 2.
2(5a-9b)
30. What????? Are you sure you wrote the problem down right?
34. Are you sure you’re writing these down correctly? That doesn’t make sense.
