Question: algebra 1 problem with exponential decay…half-life?
okay so i have this problem on my math worksheet…..Carbon-14 has a half life of 5700 years. Scientists use this fact to determine the age of things made of organic amaterial. suppose The Average page of a book containing apporocimately 0.5 mg of carbon-14 is put into a time capsule. how much carbon-14 will each page contain after each of the following numbers of years a. 5700 b.11400 c.22800 d. 34200?….i know the formula is ab^x but i just don’t get what has to go where and i’m just really confused. Please don’t just give me the answer. Just walk me through the steps and like explain what goes where and so on.
Answer: Half-life is the time an amount of radiactive material takes for decaying to half its original value. Use this definition to explicitly find a and b for the decay formula.
