I got a worksheet for 10 problems, but I have no idea how to start either of these, any help is appreciated:
1) If you roll a pair of ordinary dice, what is the probability that the sum of the dots on the top faces is a multiple of 3? Give your answer as a reduced fraction.
And,
2) Ellen and Tasha took a bicycle trip last weekend. They rode the first 10 miles at a rate of 12 miles per hour. They realized that they had to go faster to get to their destination before dark. Do they sped up for the last 12 miles of the trip. The entire trip took 1 hour and 20 minutes. At what rate did they travel the last 12 miles? Express your answer in miles per hour.
Thank you.
Answer: the 1st problem :

Answer: SOLVING PERCENT EQUATIONS:
1.
32 / 24 = 1.3333
So 32 is 133.33% of 24
2.
1.25 x = 15
x = 15 / 1.25
x = 12
So 125% of 12 is 15
PERCENT OF CHANGE
1.
38.80 / 48.50 = 0.8
So $48.50 was changed by 80%
USING PORPORTIONS
1.
x = 28 * 21 = $588
2.
x = 25 * 1/4 = 6.25 in. (or 6 and 1/4 in.)
I hope this helped

Question: How do you solve this kind of algebra problem?
I just started in Algebra 2 today and I’m having trouble with this worksheet with Algebra 1 stuff (ridiculous, right?) and I am having trouble figuring out this one kind of problem. I have a variable on each side of the equation. Here’s a sample:
15a = 3a + 84
Can someone tell me the procedure to figuring out this kind of problem? Thanks!
Answer: I’ve been teaching algebra 1 and 2 for 21 years.
study this way :]
15a=3a+84
-3a -3a<------------------minus 3a from each side
--------------------
+12a=84<------------ divide each side by 12
-------- ------
12 12 As you can see a is equal to 8.
