Question: Math/Rational Numbers: Trouble with rationalizing the denominator?
I am having trouble with this picticular question:
3/Radical(12)
I get 3 Radical (12)/12 as my answer. According to my worksheet the answer is not correct.
Answer: You first need to reduce your fraction. Divide the top and bottom by 3. You end up with Radical(12)/4.
You can split your 12 into 3*4 so you have Rad(3*4)/4.
You can split the radicals so you have Rad(3)*Rad(4)/4.
Rad (4)=2, so you have 2*Rad(3)/4.
Reduce by dividing top and bottom by 2.
You end with Rad(3)/2.
