Math Worksheets Inequalities

Question: inequalities problem…..confused?!?

ok…. i’m usually excellent at math but i haven’t done algebra since i took algebra 1 early in 8th grade… now i’m in the 10th taking algebra 2 and very confused even though its the 2nd day of the class.

anyways…. i’m doing inequalities and its a matching worksheet so there’s 2 possible answers that i’m getting

the problem is below

8/5 is less than or equal to 4/5x

first, i got the answer of 2 is less than or equal to x, but the teacher has it the other way around and i wasn’t sure how 2 get x on the other side. so then by using inverses and stuff, i put the 4/5x on the other side and 8/5 on the opposite side too. making bot 8/5 and 4/5x negative

after doing that my second answer was

x is less than or equal to 2

which one is right? or are they the same thing?

sincerely,

confused

Answer: ok so lets solve this originally. 8/5<4/5x so x<8/5*5/4= x<2 (note: the < is less than equal to). the answer is not 2x, then x<2.
hope this helps
